DMS Cheerleading Demerits and Probation

   1. When a cheerleader is placed on probation, her parents will be
       contacted by the sponsor.
   2. Cheerleaders are required to come to practice and to all functions, in
       assigned uniform while on probation.
   3. Cheerleaders will remain on probation until her behavior or attitude
       improves as determined by the sponsor.
   4. Cheerleaders will be placed on probation after 5 demerits.
   5. Demerit points are given for the following:

Attendance and Tardies
   1. unexcused absence from a game or practice  - - 3 points
   2. tardiness to practices, games, any other kind of activity - - 2 point
   3. picked up late from practice, game, any other kind of activity - - 2 point
Uniforms
   1. not wearing uniforms when required - - 1 point
   2. parts of uniform missing or untidy - - 1 point
   3. wearing inappropriate clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc - - 1 point
Conduct
   1.  obscene language - - 3 points
   2.  failure to obey command of captain or sponsor - - 3 point
   3.  talking or being disruptive during practice – warning first time;
        second time and each subsequent time - - 1 point
   4. attracting undesirable attention or behaving in an undignified way - -
      3 points (display of affection/rudeness to other members, etc.)
   5. negative reports from other teachers, administration, parents -- 3 points
   5. unsportsmanlike like conduct - - 1 point
   6. chewing gum during practice or while cheering - - 1 point
   7. suspension in or out of school  - - 5 points first offense, dismissal for second
   8. any incidents involving alcohol, tobacco, or any illegal substances in
      or out of school will result in dismissal.

***Cheerleaders will be informed of demerits given:

              5 points = 1 benched game/practice

            10 points = 2 benched games/practice

            15 points = 3 benched games/practice

            20 points = dismissal from the team
